Next walks
Walk update
In light of the recently updated COVID-19 Government guidelines, Mental Health Mates are planning to resume Walks from March 8th.
As a formal support group, we are allowed up to fifteen people per Walk. You can read more information on support groups on the GOV.UK Website.
For the health and safety of the community, we ask that you please continue to observe social distancing and health measures when meeting and walking.
Although we are able to resume Walks in person, please note that MHM are still hosting online meet ups via Zoom or Skype. Please note that this is an an invitation to resume Walks and that we encourage you only to organise or attend them at your own comfort and discretion.
We are thrilled to be resuming our Walks so we can continue to share, listen, connect and walk together as a community!
Make a date with a Mental Health Mate!
Current government guidelines state that you may meet one other person outdoors for walks. With this in mind, here at MHM, we want to encourage you to, “Make a date with a Mental Health Mate!”
We would love for you to continue to meet up with one other person, either from your MHM Walk or broader community, for a walk! It is so important to keep connected in these challenging times, so please don’t hesitate to Make a Walk Date!
When you do organise a Walk Date, we ask that you continue to follow social distancing guidelines when meeting and walking – you can read more about these measures here.
If you have any questions about Make A Date please email us at hello@mentalhealthmates.co.uk and we can guide you from there.
What you can do
Please attend walks at your own discretion. If you are in a vulnerable group please continue with our alternative virtual meet ups.
Whilst we want to provide as much safety and security as we can for our community, we cannot be responsible in the event of a group member contracting the virus.
What we can do outside lockdown
In accordance with the safety guidelines, a maximum of six individuals from separate households are permitted to gather outdoors. Therefore, Walk Leaders will only be advised to lead a group of six. We ask that all six walkers register their information with their Walk Leader before the walk takes place. In the event of a group member contracting the virus, the registration we have put in place will ensure we can efficiently carry out track and trace.
Alongside this, we advise that all group members continue to observe social distancing and health measures. This includes:
- keeping one meter away from people not in your household
- washing your hands regularly
- self isolating if feeling unwell
Although we are now able to resume in person walks, please note that MHM are still hosting online meet ups via Zoom or Skype. These virtual sessions are organised by the Walk Leaders and are still being hosted as well as smaller walks. Arrangements vary according to location so please see our guide to Walks and Virtual meetings for more information.
Thank you
We have been overwhelmed by the ongoing support from this community throughout these unprecedented times. If the pandemic has shed light on anything, it is the strength and willingness of this community to stand together, even when physically apart! Mental Health Mates is a beautiful example of the best that humanity has to offer.
We are thrilled to be resuming our walks so we can continue to share, listen, connect and walk together!
