Walks

Our Walks are organised by our brilliant volunteer Walk Leaders who have often experienced mental health challenges themselves. Our Walk Leaders set up walks local to them, with their groups meeting regularly to walk, connect and share without fear or judgment.

Our Walks provide an opportunity to chat about whatever is on your mind – be it something related to mental health, what you had for breakfast, the latest film, or something else altogether. If you don’t feel like talking, that’s OK too – our walks are simply a safe space to get out, connect and meet like-minded people.

Please do get in touch with a Walk Leader local to you, there is no commitment if you just want to try it out! If there isn’t currently a Walk local to you, we are always looking for volunteers to set up new walks so that we can reach and support even more people!

“For me, being a walk leader has been the most wonderful, purposeful and rewarding experience. Setting up the first walk was daunting but two and a half years in, I am so grateful that I did for both the space it provides for the attendees and on a personal level, for how much it’s helped me by meeting such a wonderful bunch of people!”

Kate, Leeds Walk Leader

“It’s always amazing to see newcomers, knowing that our message of support continues to spread and they feel some benefit from attending. I’m so grateful to Bryony for coming up with the idea of Mental Health Mates and I feel very privileged to lead Newcastle MHMs.”

Natalie, Newcastle Walk Leader
